Hi David,
Now that FRM studying is done, I was considering doing the CIPM. I do not have the time (or the desire) to do CFA right now, but I heard that the amount of studying for the CIPM was relatively small compared to the FRM.
Is this a worthwhile designation or would my time be better...
Fantasic.
Thank you!
Now that I am beginning my search, are there any particular skills that I may want to take a course in that would make me more marketable?
Shannon
Hi David,
I have certainly learned a lot from you and the other people in this forum. Going forward, could you recommend any other forums where we could ask somewhat dumb questions without asking our superiors and looking foolish?
For instance, I am at work and looking at a report right now...
Fantastic. Thanks!
I know this might get a little circular, but has anyone actually used the term "FRM holder" as a status for Linkedin or on a resume or are you just staying with "FRM program- passed level 1 and level 2 exams"?
Shannon
After I filled out the form concerning job history I got this. Oddly, it does not say how long it should take to approve my work history or when I can start using the FRM designation.

I just entered all of my information to complete the process, but I did not see anything about actually submitting a resume. Did I miss something?
Thanks!

If I passed part 1 and part 2, but have not officially been designated as a Financial Risk Manager, how can I put this on a resume? There is something about submitting your work history and needing to be approved before we are supposed to use the designation.
I would like to get my resume out...
Quick update. I bet they say this every year, but I contacted GARP and got a few responses about the quality and consistency (or lack thereof) of the level 2 exam and they have been pretty good about getting back to me.
I just wanted my voice heard and to let them know that some of the...
Anyone who thinks this question was had NO good answers, please email GARP, as I did.
I happened to put stock price going down as the correct answer because I didnt think that ANY of the answers were correct, because NONE of them led to an INCREASE in cash flows. The bond coupon was a...
Hi David,
I posted this right after the test but I dont think anyone chimed in about it. Do you have any thoughts?
Question 4 could have gone two ways. At the beginning of te test it said that unless stated otherwise all interest rates were we continuous. If we said that y=r+spread and...
David,
Could you please explain the idea behind this method of discounting. I do not remember seeing this explicit formula for discounting. Maybe I am just fried after the test, but I do not see the logic of this algorithm/formula.
Thanks!
Shannon
Allow me to play devil's advocate for a moment. At the beginning of the test it said that all rates were continuous. Wouldnt this mean that we should instead use 80=100*exp(.05+s) and then say that s = PD*LGD?
This would have given us a little more than 17%. Since 16% was the closest I...
If I read it wrong, then I will take the hit, but I still really think the way it was worded the answer could have been ITM call or OTM puts.
The point of this test was to see if we understood the concepts and how to apply the formulas. Being mind-readers and deciphering questions that read...
