FRM Part II 17 May 2014 Result

Use BT! ;) To my mind Part II is significantly different from Part I. While Part I contains a lot of quantitative Exam Questions - which are often straightforward - there where just a few in Part II. Part II is rather conceptual and the exam asked quite a lot of questions where situations...

FRM Part II 17 May 2014 Result

Passed Part II: 1-1-1-1-1 Thank you David & team! Wouldn't have done it without you! The summaries, videos, excel sheets and PQ are invaluable! I think it is hard/impossible to grasp all the information and content that can be derived from the readings. Your pointing out of (key) issues and...

CDS and CDS Index long or short

Thank you for the prompt answer David. The reading you are referring to was the issue that confused me. Looking forward to your reference concerning the CDS index!

CDS and CDS Index long or short

Hi, I just got confused concerning "to be long or short a CDS". Is this correct? "Long CDS" means to be the protection buyer (which is equivalent to be short the bond) "Short CDS" means to be the protection seller (which is equivalent to be long the bond) Is the same true for a CDS Index...

    Boudoukh Interpolation

Hi David, actually I don't get the interpolation in Boudoukh (see your Study Notes page 5 and 6). ... 1. How does the "halfway rule" work and why does -2.40% represent the 4.5 percebtile and not the 5% percentile? And how can we end in concluding that -2.35% is the 5% VaR??? 2. Why does the 5%...

Current Issues Readings - How to cope with them?

According to the GARP weighting scheme we should expect 8 questions on Current Issues (10% of 80 questions). Do you think that there have been more questions concerning this topic?

Very useful thoughts David! Would you let these unchanged for May 2014 or do you have any updates/new recommendations on these? (especially the approach of dealing with Malz/Gregory!). Thanks in advance! :)

Current Issues Readings - How to cope with them?

Hi, actually I am a bit concerned how to cope with the Current Issues readings assigned, as these papers contain more than 300 pages. Based on the exam and preparation experience so far and to the best of your knowledge: 1. Do we have to read all the papers in detail or are there any parts...

    Spreadsheets Jorion Chapters 7 & 17

Hi, although David is referring to the spreadsheets (8.c.) of Jorion Chapter 7&17 in his video these spreadsheets are not published yet. Would it be possible to publish the version of the spreadsheets David is referring to in his video. I guess even if it is an "old" version from your point of...

    Hull - Exotic Options

Hi David, just in terms of efficient exam preparation and to the best of your experience so far: can we expect that exam questions on Hull's Exotic Options to be conceptual only (=no calculations)? Or to be more specific: as the calculations of the different types of options ans the valuations...

    GARP 2011 Q.1

Assume that a random variable follows a normal distribution with a mean of 50 and a standard deviation of 10. What percentage of this distribution is between 55 and 65? Answer: 24,17% (=0,9332-0,6915) Actually, I don't get it with GARPs explanation... How do we get the probabilities: Prob (X...

    Exam: Operational Issues

Maybe I got you wrong?! I thought you suggested in the previous posting to mark "best guess answers" in the scranton. Picking this up I thought it would be a good idea - just in order to keep the oversight about all these questions and to be prepared for a last quality check - to...

    Exam: Operational Issues

Thank you afterwork, very usefull hints! So maybe a good strategy when you are not sure about a question would be: (i) make notes, e.g. cross-out wrong answers in the Exam Question Sheet and (ii) mark the question in the scranton (but maybe not completely full...just as a cross as a reminder...
