Core reading

David..

In the core reading
45. Ellen Davis (editor), Operational Risk: Practical Approaches to Implementation (London: Risk Books, 2005).

• Chapter 12 – Aligning Basel II Operational Risk and Sarbanes‐Oxley 404 Projects, by Nick Bolton and Judson Berkey.

This seemsto be an article by the said author and I have subscribed to operations risk and compliance website through whom I was able to obtain a official copy. (which runs to 4 pages only. I am a bit confused whether is this the same what the core reading book contains (which costs US $ 14 to download from FRM!). For the sake of code of conduct I ahave not shared this. !!!????

Please help.

Hi venkat,

My chapter from the book runs 10 (short) pages for this reading (pp 237-246), so yours may be truncated (but our notes will summarize this reading frankly, which is basically a long checklist, it is not worth $14 ??!!)

David

Hi David..

Thanks and it was indeed helpful tip. I know your notes will cover this, however I am trying to possess as much material . th cost I meant is with reference to FRM pricing and not referring to the reading.

Regards
venkat

David..

Also looks like the follreading is dropped as compared to AIMS
18. Saunders, Financial Institutions Management, 6th Edition.
• Appendix 15A – Mechanisms for Dealing with Sovereign Risk Exposure

Any comment

Hi venkat,

In (revised) AIMs, I do see Saunders 15A. They are:

Anthony Saunders and Marcia Millon Cornett, Financial Institutions Management: A Risk Management Approach, 6th Edition (New York: McGraw‐Hill, 2008). Chapter 15 (excluding Appendix 15A) - Sovereign Risk

AIMS – After completing this reading, candidates should be able to:
• Explain the differences between credit risk and sovereign risk
• Compare debt repudiation versus debt rescheduling
• Explain the role of the following variables in country risk evaluation
o Debt service ratio
o Import ratio
o Investment ratio
o Variance of export ratio
o Domestic money supply growth
• Explain the common problems with statistical country risk evaluation models

Maybe you have the first AIM version?

venkat - There have been 2 AIM versions, but the GARP website (I would hope) should reflect the most recent. I will forward this information to our GARP contact - I am sure they intend no difference...I'll let you know tomorrow what they say...David
