Advice for preparing for FRM 1 in Nov 2011

Hi,

I am planning to take the FRM L1 in November 2011. I have some questions regarding the preparation strategy and would really appreciate advice from those who have taken it recently. I have never done CFA. But I have taken NASD 7, 63 and couple of other designations.

1) For someone with a non-quant background (MBA in Finance), which preparation material should I use? The ones recommended from GARP, FRM Handbook and Course Pack, are quite a bit. FRM handbook has roughly 350 pages for L1, where as the entire L1 Course Pack is 1500+ pages. I also have Shweser's notes, which are 900 pages. Given time constraints, I can read one or the other but not all so would appreciate your advice.

2) What is a good strategy for practicing questions? Should I entirely rely on Bionic Turle and GARP's sample questions (included with FRM Handbook)? Is it worth my time to work on Shweser's questions.

3) Right now, I've about roughly 5 months to prepare. As I work full-time, at most I can put in 20 hours week. Would that be sufficient? I noticed the relatively low passing %.

4) How do you suggest I use Bionic Turtle's materials? Is the recommended way is to listen to read the core readings, then listen to Bionic Turtle's videos and finally practice Bionic Turtle's questions?

5) How difficult is the time constraint in Level 1? Is it like the level of GRE or GMAT where every second is crucial?

Thank you for your advice!
