Compensation Survey

I was thinking that compensation information would be valuable information to know for folks. Obviously, the amounts will differ by location, experience level, degrees earned, etc., but I still think that this information could be very valuable for BT members.

@David Harper CFA FRM - have you ever considered generating an anonymous survey of BT members to help arm current professionals and those seeking employment with this valuable info? I would be very interested in learning more about what folks are earning (on an anonymous basis obviously.)

Information like the following would be really helpful:

Years Experience in Banking/Finance: e.g. 10 yars or 15 years, etc.
Highest Degree: e.g. M.S. Mathematics or PhD in Finance, etc.
Certification(s) Earned: e.g. FRM, CFA. ASA, FSA, or CAIA, etc.
Annual Compensation Range: USD 50,000 to USD 75,000 or USD 75,000 to USD 100,000 or some other range, etc.

I would prefer to wait for David to respond to see if an anonymous survey could be generated....if not, I would be happy to share my salary range.

Hi @brian.field To be honest, I haven't thought of conducting a survey (although salary questions occasionally come up; eg, https://forum.bionicturtle.com/threads/salary-survey-for-cfa-and-frm.6885/ )

Did I mention I used to be a compensation consultant? (what every little boy dreams of being when they grow up! ... seriously, don't ever be a compensation consultant).

My thoughts are that it would be useful only if (i) participation is meaningful and (ii) the results are useful--as presented--to the audience, preferrably actionable in some way. For example, speaking for myself, I would have been interested in the relative differences, if any, between CFA, FRM (...etc).

I have no problems with hosting a survey, but I wonder if it would be more effective to solicit the widest possible audience? By this, FRM potentials and actuals outside BT world ... we could ask GARP and offer to co-host with other service providers (eg, Kaplan). Thoughts?
